ABOUT

A family run

business.

Scooter Island

is a family run business, dealing in motor vehicles since 1948.

Originally the company was established by Joe Farrell and he mainly dealt in cars but in the 1980's the business moved towards two wheels. Joe was regularly seen with Mark (his son) at scooter fairs.

Unfortunately Joe passed away in 2003 and Mark now runs the business. The family still maintain a healthy interest with Jake and Naoise (Mark’s children) regularly seen in the shop. Of course, not forgetting Tina Farrell who keeps the books and runs the office side of things.

Formerly known as Island Motors from the early days of the 50’s and 60’s, Scooter Island is a long standing motor business with a long standing reputation for personal and friendly attention!

SCOOTER ISLAND TODAY

The family element continues through to this day with the Scooter Island team consisting of Mark and his son Jake Farrell.

Meet SHEER GENIUS

Sheer Genius is a custom Vespa owned by Mark for the last 25 years. Sheer Genius is a 1980 Vespa p200e which has been heavily customised in a Manchester United theme. It features murals painted by John Spurgeon, Eric Cantona's signature and chromework and engraving by the late great Peter Robinson. Sheer Genius has been featured in Scootering Magazine twice, in Dublin, the Herald, the Press and many other publications over the years. It was on the red carpet for the premiere of Looking For Eric and it met the great man himself. It also featured on MUTV Green Devils, Men in Motors, RTE, TV3 and many TV and radio programmes. It is a regular visitor to Old Trafford in Manchester and gets preferential treatment from staff who allow it to be parked behind the Stretford End. Sheer Genius is also a constant sight at Gingers Egg Run for the last 20 years bringing smiles to many young patients at Manchester Children's Hospital. Sheer Genius has won many awards over the years and Scooter Iisland are very proud to display them in the shop.
